- Abstract:
Este artículo resume los resultados de un proyecto de investigación financiado por el Instituto de la Industria de la Construcción (CII) que abarcó el diseño y construcción para una construcción industrial sustentable. El proyecto de investigación incluyó una revisión global de literatura relacionada con la construcción industrial sustentable, y una encuesta de investigación en empresas constructoras industriales, la que fue utilizada para determinar la viabilidad del empleo de prácticas sustentables en el sector de la construcción industrial. Los integrantes del sector de la construcción industrial entregaron información sobre la utilización de prácticas sustentables en sus empresas y numerosos ejemplos de los tipos de prácticas sustentables que ya habían sido implementadas en sus compañías. El proyecto de investigación también desarrolló diversas fuentes de implementación que son discutidas, tales como una guía de inicio rápido para implementar prácticas sustentables, dos modelos de madurez que podrían ser usados para ayudar a evaluar el nivel de sustentabilidad de los proyectos, y listados de comprobación para la evaluación de proyectos de construcción industrial.
